national-alzheimers-awareness-monthDid you know that the National Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month is November?

November is Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month. It is a time to spread awareness about Alzheimer’s disease through educational programs and informational events. Alzheimer’s, or AD, is a devastating disease that is the most common form of dementia which affects millions. It is most commonly diagnosed in individuals who are 65 years of age and older.

There is no cure for the disease, but research is constantly being done to find a cure and eliminate the disease. Symptoms vary person to person as it is a disease that is not well understood. The cause of Alzheimer’s is unknown and so how it develops and progresses differs for every individual who suffers from it.

4 Stages of Alzheimer’s Disease

  1. Pre-dementia
  2. Early
  3. Moderate
  4. Advanced

Some people reserve the entire month of November to recognize loved ones who have the disease and those that care for Alzheimer’s sufferers. You can find out about local events during National Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month by checking with your city council or the Alzheimer’s Association events calendar.
