The Tony winner and his leading man are married!
Neil Patrick Harris, 41, and David Burtka, 39, wed in Italy over the weekend. The two tied the knot in a lovely ceremony on Saturday after dating for 10 years! They had announced their engagement in June 2011 via Twitter after the passing of the Marriage Equality Act in New York and now three years later, they are officially hitched!
Insiders say the grooms wore matching custom Tom Ford tuxedos and their friend and How I Met Your Mother producer and director Pam Fryman, officiated the ceremony. And guess who provided the music? Elton John!
"We happily confirm that Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka were married in Italy in an intimate ceremony surrounded by their close friends and family," a rep for NPH said.
Harris was happy to confirm the news on Twitter afterwards.
After they announced their engagement in 2011, Harris revealed they actually had gotten engaged five years earlier but just kept it a secret. At first, they didn't know when exactly the big date would be but with twins Gideon and Harper turning 4 in October, they figured it was time.
"Certainly, we have children and marriage is an appropriate thing to do [as] a part of their well being, so I'm sure it will be inevitable - and awesome!" Harris said.
Sources say they had their twins involved in the nuptials and it was very magical ceremony. After what we are sure will be a very romantic honeymoon, the newlyweds will return to their townhouse with their kids in Harlem. Congrats to the couple and their very happy family!
