The term smokey eye may sound intimidating to some, but a smokey eye doesn’t have to be all black. In fact, the smokey eye is by far the most requested look I come across as a professional makeup artist in Chicago. You can smoke just about any color shadow around the eye. As long as it is well blended, it will work. I will explain to you how to apply a gorgeous smokey eye perfect for your next party in just 5 easy steps!
- Apply eyeshadow primer.
- Apply black (or your darker shadow) to the outer edge of the eyelid, dusting underneath the eye.
- Apply your choice of silver, gold or glitter/shimmer pigment to the inner corners of the eyelid. Lightly dusting underneath the eye on the inner corner as well.
- Apply liquid, gel or pencil liner on the top of the eyelid, gently blending into your eyeshadow.
- Finish the look with a generous application of mascara
If you have a hard time blending, try applying a beige/shimmery shadow on the brow bone to help blend any harsh edges. This is a technique I use on a daily basis to ensure everything is always perfectly blended!
