Hot Pantyhose, Let's Discuss This In Two Words:  Not Sexy!

It seems that pantyhose is no longer considered the norm when it comes to appropriate work attire. Today we even see women in the conservative law offices and those on Capitol Hill opting to go bare-legged rather than having to endure the constant itching, sweating and giant crease in the tummy-roll region. Countless women have finally decided that not only are pantyhose not elegant, but they are most definitely a huge fashion DON'T!

Pantyhose torture is an avid subject that lots of women know about firsthand, as the debate about the heat of summer and pantyhose still rages on in many offices which have outdated archaic rules forcing their female employees to wear pantyhose in the summertime. Despite it being hot and humid, a female employees' performance is often based on how well they adhere to the company rules-dress code included. Fishnet stockings and suspenders of the boudoir variety have been dubbed as sexy for years, but as far as pantyhose in the office? There's definitely nothing sexy going on here as sweaty nets are not sexy! Period! How about smart and elegant? Never, ever on a hot day!

The Great Pantyhose Debate

In Witchita, Kansas,  the female employees of Mid America Credit Union chaffed under a directorial that required them to come to work in pantyhose.  The summers in Kansas are hot humid and more humid.  A discussion of this on Good Morning America news show turned into a true "pantyhose discussion."  And resulted in a challenge.

What About Men's Pantyhose? Think Mel Gibson in "What Women Want."   Too cute to forget, right?  No.  This was not a movie.  To check out what all the fuss was about, 'Good Morning America"  issued a challenge that several men braved up to, swore to and wore pantyhose for an entire work day. The result was unanimous with several men wriggling their way into sheer pantyhose to then work their normal day which for some consisted of working in the hot sun as laborers.   Another gentleman, who was a real estate agent even showed a condo to a client wearing pantyhose under his khaki shorts. Don't the product research was a thumbs down all the way.  Check out the You Tube videos (link below) in our Video section to hear their responses to the experience.

Make the Pantyhose Challenge?

Their comments went something along the lines of- This is itchy, uncomfortable and I am so sweaty! This is impossible. However do you do it? Their verdict to the questions of- Is hosiery somehow a show of respect for the office? Should women have to wear pantyhose to work? What do you think? A definite- NO!  It's sometimes just plain too hot for pantyhose!  Come on, let us breathe!

Modern Day Pantyhose

It's true that the humble pantyhose line has improved over the years as we now see an extensive variety of fabrics ranging from nylon and smooth cottons to silky blends and warm winter wools. Pantyhose made from Lycra blends are also fabulous as it increases the blood circulation in the legs which is beneficial to those women with careers that require a great deal of standing. Air hostesses love their Lycra stockings for the sheer support they offer. Pantyhose are available in many colors, styles and textures as well as a range of sizes to fit women of all proportions comfortably.

We considered that we could even go on and discuss the idea of crotchless pantyhose, sounds like air conditioning, right.  Well, there may be something to be said about that.  But it doesn't belong in this article, sorry!

The bottom line when it comes to the pantyhose discussion is that the question of hose or no hose should be a personal decision.  If it's going to cause the kind of sweaty discomfort that can result in a bad case of the female version of jock itch, a form of candida yeast infection usually for women then pantyhose is certainly a health hazard.
