The cheesiest appetizer for holidays or parties! These golden brown, cheesy appetizers are easy to make and easy to store. You can just keep them frozen in a plastic bag in your freezer until you’re ready to munch! They also make a quick snack for your hungry kids after school.

Make them ahead of time, keep frozen and then when ready, warm up and indulge in the cheesy goodness! Make a bunch of these- they will go fast!

  • 3 loaves of thin white bread
  • 1 pound of butter, softened
  • 1 tablespoon hot sauce
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dill weed
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 4 small jars of old English cheese
  • Dash of cayenne

  1. In a bowl, mix together your soft butter, hot sauce, onion powder, dill weed, Worcestershire sauce, cayenne and scoop out the cheese from all four jars and mix well.
  2. Trim the crust off the bread.
  3. Spread mixture on one side of each slice of bread and layer three slices together.
  4. Cut into fourths and place on baking sheeting.
  5. Place baking sheets of cheese squares into freezer until firm.
  6. Transfer all cheese squares to large plastic bags and freeze.
  7. Cheese squares must be baked from a frozen state. When frozen, bake 15-20 minutes in oven at 350 degrees until golden brown.

The spreading and slicing of the crust can be time-consuming so make this appetizer the night before your big party or holiday so they’ll be frozen and ready to go the next day!

Getting together with friends and family and enjoying a fabulous meal is always wonderful, but all the planning and preparation for hosting such an event can take a toll on anyone. After all, it's a lot of effort to plan and create a menu that everyone will enjoy!

Why not make the next get together a little simpler by issuing a potluck party invitation? Potlucks are a great way to take some of the stress out of hosting as well as include guests, who often want to help.

A Fabulously Varied Menu - That You Don't Have To Prepare Entirely Yourself

It may seem daunting to ask others to bring food to a party that you are hosting, but the odds are, the guests will be more than willing to help. There are a lot of ways to offer a potluck party invitation. Some people simply ask guests to bring a dish to share on the invitation. Others feel like a personal phone call or visit is in order to make the request. There is also the option of doing limited potluck by waiting for people to ask the inevitable question, "What can I bring?"

Whatever the method, inviting someone to a potluck isn't rude; it's actually a fun way to include her in the party process and allow her to showcase her talents.

Organizing the Meal

Once you have issued a football potluck party, it's time to decide how to organize the meal itself. You can offer assigned dishes or ask guests what they would like to bring. Be conscious that some people don't like to cook, so you should save some very easy items to pick up at the store like bottled drinks, crackers and cheese, or even plates and napkins.

Creative Potluck Party Ideas

When people hear, "potluck," certain dishes leap to mind: macaroni and cheese, lasagna, casseroles, and scalloped potatoes are all common choices. While there is certainly nothing wrong with these comfort classics, why not try something different for a creative potluck?

1. Highlight A Specific Type Of Ethnic Or National Food

One of the most fun things about potlucks is trying new foods. Why not take that experience to the next level by hosting an ethnic football potluck? Choose a country or cuisine and go from there. For a Latin potluck, you might choose to make tamales and assign guests to bring various Latin celebratory foods like mole, fried plantains, black beans and rice, homemade salsa, etc. Get the kids involved by letting them stuff a piñata with candy and holiday favors before taking turns trying to break it open.

2. All Appetizers, All The Time

Imagine how fun it would be to get a potluck party invitation to an event that featured a huge array of delicious finger foods - after all, aren't the appetizers always the best part of the meal? Divide guests into thirds and assign one group sweet snacks, one savory bites, and the last creative drinks. Everyone likes delicious finger foods - and they are also one of the best ways to experiment with new flavors and showcase creative cooking! Those who don't like to cook can always scour the grocery store aisles for a fun new treat to try like chili infused chocolate or spiced nuts, making this a potluck than everyone can enjoy.

3. Stick To Sweet With A Dessert Potluck

This type of event is great for those that have a sweet tooth! Put together a menu filled with all your favorite sweet treats from elaborately iced cakes, decadent pies, complicated cookies, rich brownies, and so much more. And declare it a #CheatDay.

With a potluck party, the food might be the centerpiece but the real reason is to enjoy a nice meal, share a dish you love, and learn something new about your friends.
