Hi, my name is Peri Heft, and I’m a craft and DIY project junkie. Ever since I was a kid, doing crafts and making “something out of nothing” has been a hobby of mine. There wasn’t a weekend that went by that my mother didn’t take my sister and me to the craft store.
And we not only made crafts and DIY projects, but we LIVED them! Do you remember those homemade pillow cases and t-shirts you made at camp? Well, I lived in those. Halloween costumes? We made them. Fun recipes using condiments and leftover? We ate ‘um.
Now, after twenty or so years of crafting experience, four years of art classes, and a love for cooking, there isn’t a weekend that goes by that I don’t create something great out of simple household items, put together a wonderful dinner using leftover food from the night before, or get inspired by an item in a boutique.
And, the best part is, it’s cheaper! Simple homemade sugar scrub costs around $1.50 a jar when made at home. Whereas, if you purchased it in the store, it could be priced at $40 or more! How about a homemade family bulletin board with decorative ribbon, chalkboard-painted schedule boards, and a dry erase calendar made out of an old picture frame? This would cost around $10 to make, but would be sold for over $50!
There’s a level of satisfaction you get from doing it yourself. You produced something beautiful and you get to show it off: wear it, hang it on the wall, or even better, eat it!
You don’t have to be Martha Stewart to create a masterpiece craft. I’m here to show you how EASY it is to make beautiful, functional art. Stay tuned; you’re going to love these DIY projects and at-home tips!
