Mothers in need can now purchase and sell breast milk online, from a milk bank, just as if they were purchasing or selling a pair of new shoes. Breast feeding newborn babies with human breast milk is the most natural way to ensure they receive all the nutrients and vitamins a mother’s breast milk provides. However, some new moms are unable to breast feed because of medical reasons or adoption. Other moms naturally pump more breast milk than their babies need and end up with freezers packed full of nutrient-rich human milk.

Two new studies have concluded that couples with children are happier than childless couples.  Now some of us with two-year-olds or teenagers may take issue with that.  The temper tantrums, ego-centric behavior and roller coaster ride that accompanies child rearing can make many of us want to pull our hair out!  We would just as soon jump off a cliff or burst into flames some days.  And many of us wonder, just who were these people that were interviewed on happiness with kids?  Were they brainwashed from the "Beaver Cleaver" days or the "Mary Poppins" movie?  Well, if they were, the 52,000 parents interviewed must have been brainwashed together unbeknownst to us (wink wink).

Babies Addicted to Drugs

You know, its seems like when we get pregnant, the very joy of it fuels our desire to have a healthy baby, so much so, that we quit bad habits.  We quit smoking,  We quit drinking.  We may even quit caffeine.  Somehow, when we become pregnant, it is deeply ingrained within us that our bodies are not our own anymore.  There is no better motivation to clean up our acts, than to get pregnant and anticipate a new baby.  But unfortunately, some addictions are so powerful that some Moms just can't quit whatever habit that they have.  And as a result, there are more babies born addicted to drugs than ever.

Dancing With the Stars Champ's Baby

J.R. Martinez from Dancing With the Stars  welcomed a new baby girl with girlfriend Diana Gonzalez-Jones.  And the little baby actually has a pretty normal name!  Lauryn Anabelle Martinez was born Wednesday, May 2, 2012, in Los Angeles and hit the scale at 7 lbs. 13 oz..  Mom and baby seem to be doing fine, and J.R. Martinez reports that little Lauryn has a full head of hair and a few freckles.  They are already nicknaming her "Belle."  It has been a full week with celebrities having babies and giving them unusual names.  But when J.R. Martinez learned his girlfriend was pregnant, he assured us that he wouldn't name the baby something unusual, but something that was meaningful to the couple.

It’s April vacation which means there are 34 school days before the end of the year, but who’s counting? With school vacation comes parental pressure for mom. Here are the facts: 

• Your kids are off from school for seven loooong consecutive days.
• They will need activity to keep them busy and thus you will need money.
• The amount of cooking, cleaning, and laundry, will envelop you.
• No matter what your plan is, it will never be as good as their friend’s vacation plans. 
• You have 34 days for the test run before summer, so you better get it straight.

Adding more pressure to the mix, my 12-year-old son celebrates his birthday during vacation week. Year after year, his vacation opening ceremony begins with the speech about how bad his vacation and his birthday will be.

Losing Pregnancy Pounds

Those of us breastfeeding moms have heard the mantra:  "breastfeeding will get you back to your pre-pregnancy weight much faster!  You will burn more calories and lose the weight!"  And some of us would like to slug the people who say that in six weeks we will be back to our pre-pregnancy weight.  Now, we're not dissing breastfeeding in any way.  It is a very special time for those of us women that need to slow down and can appreciate its benefits.  Breastfeeding forces us to pause, relax, and enjoy that little sweetheart.  In addition, breastfeeding is nutritious and immune boosting for our sweet little infant.  But that doesn't always change the fact that the pregnancy weight is still staying on, even when we were told it would melt off with breastfeeding.  So what in the world are we to do when we still don't fit into our pre-pregnancy clothes?
