As you (and everyone else with an internet connection) might have heard, Beyonce and Amal Clooney are prepping for the arrival of two. While both celebrities have been spotted with beautiful baby bumps, many wonder how the women are getting ready for the arrival of their children. If you are expecting twins, this list of tips might help you do the same as you count down for the arrival of your own.

Preparing Your Body For Pregnancy

One of the best ways to prepare for the arrival of your twins is to expect serious changes to take place in your body - perhaps more so than a standard pregnancy!

Since you’re expecting twins, mentally prepare for pregnancy complications as well - you never know and it's better to have your game face on! Having twins may also increase the chances of babies being born prematurely, so don't get too hung up on them having a particular birthstone or zodiac sign.

Purchasing Identical Items

No matter how old or young, twins may endure a certain type of jealousy. That’s why it’s best to make a separate, yet identical purchase when buying them things like clothes, toys, and jewelry. Make sure they know they have an equal place in your heart - and wallet!

Know Even Identical Twins Develop At Different Rates

Just because twins were born on the same day and may look and act similar does not mean that their brains will develop at identical rates. Yes, twins are identical, but their capacity for brain development is different since they are separate life experiences with multiple variables that can hamper or encourage development. It’s also okay for twins to respond differently to different stimuli and react differently to situations. So always make sure to treat them like different people.

Telling Your Twins Apart

It will be easy for moms and dads to tell twins apart, but before they are born, create a way for aunts, uncles, extended family members and friends to tell them apart. Try identifying a physical characteristic or an emotional trait that can distinguish one twin from another. By keeping the trait or characteristic consistent, it will be easier for outsiders to separate them.

Preparing for twins means twice the fun and twice the trouble. That’s why it’s best to start planning as soon as you can. And enjoy the journey!
