Amber Riley Collapses

Amber Riley, who made a name for herself from the television show, "Glee," collapsed on the red carpet, causing quite a scare.  As it turns out, Amber was a little overwhelmed by the cameras and perhaps, the heat, and became very dizzy.  Amber Riley of Glee assures us that she is fine but will be checked out by a physician very soon.  She also thanked the photographers for not shooting pictures of her when she was lying on the ground.  We have to hand it to the paparazzi for refraining from trying to make another buck with a picture of Amber Riley ill.

Taylor Swift Wins Entertainer of the Year

Well, she's done it again.  America's sweetheart, Taylor Swift, has won the Academy of Country Music Awards (ACM) for Entertainer of the Year the second year in a row.  Those of us that listen to Taylor Swift's music can attest to her raw talent.  The music she sings is mostly written by her and reflects on experiences that even us more "seasoned" women have endured.  And she's kept it together on the personal front even though she has joined the ranks of top-notch celebrities.  So what is it about Taylor Swift that draws recognition frequently on the awards front? 

The Good, the Bad, and the Same Old Thing

If the truth be told, this year wasn't the best for the Academy Awards. Some are even going so far as to say the 2011 Oscars were the worst ever. While that may be extreme, there were certainly a lot of flaws. Unfortunately, the "memorable moments" this time around are more cringe worthy than praise worthy. The Oscars cater to the highbrow, film-critics. The People's Choice awards are all about stroking the egos of actors and directors. Arguably, the MTV Movie Awards is the only major red carpet event that is really all about the audience. 2011 promises to be one of the MTV Movie Awards biggest years yet. While the nuts and bolts of just who will be appearing on stage and what they will be doing are still under wraps, judging by years past, this won't be your grandma's awards show.

The MTV Red Hot Carpet Video Awards throws down a whole 'nother kind of Red Carpet event every year.  Since it's inaugural in 1984, the annual award show has been called the "Oscars for Youth" among other things we can't actually mention here.  It was once thought to be a potential replacement for the Grammy Awards, but that didn't happen.  Instead the MTV Music Video Awards became the hottest most avant guard show that teens could not stop talking about the day before and parents could not stop shaking their heads about the day after.
