From Jennifer Aniston to George Clooney to today's Chris Pratt, a ton of today's top stars got their start on the small screen. Television has consistently been a launchpad to international fame and today's crop of TV talent proves that we're in for a promising future in Hollywood.

Here are some of the rising stars to watch out for as they stake their claim as the new Queens and Kings of television. 

Viola Davis

Starring in the hit new show How to Get Away With Murder as the brilliant Professor Annalise Keating, Viola Davis has been stealing headlines for her stand out performance. The legal thriller takes it's characters through a life changing murder trial where things aren't always as they seem. 

Abbi Jacobson

Co-starring in of one of the most popular comedies on the air today, Abbi Jacobson of Broad City will be kicking off her show's highly anticipated third season next year. What began as a popular YouTube series, Broad City finally made the successful jump to the small screen. At this rate, it wont be long before Jacobson makes her next jump to the big screen. 

Billy Eichner 

Fan favorite "Crazy Craig" from Parks & Recreation is getting his own show! The beloved Billy Eichner debuted Difficult People, produced by Amy Poehler, on Hulu this year. The show follows two friends, Eichner and his costar Julie Klausner, who play comedians navigating the world of New York City. 

Gina Rodriguez

Jane the Virgin's first season was a smash hit and the monster cliffhanger in the finale left fans with their jaws on the floor. Gina Rodriguez quickly became the next new TV star to watch as her starring role got her career off to a promising start. 

T.J. Miller

HBO's Silicon Valley rose to wide acclaim during its second season, with a convenient schedule slot right after Game of Thrones. Miller's portrayal as the insecure man-child Elrich Bachman is a stand out among a young cast full of strong comedic talent. His work with Silicon Valley has already gotten him a number of movie roles and guest spots on TV. His stand-up's not bad either. 

Benedict Cumberbatch

Benedict Cumberbatch has been around for a while, but it wasn't until his role as Sherlock Holmes that the talented actor finally broke through the public sphere. Whether he's on stage, television, radio, film, or streaming to your smartphone, Cumberbatch is quickly becoming one of the most recognizable names in show business. 

Mindy Kaling

After getting her start with NBC's The Office, writer, director, and actress Mindi Kaling has arrived as a triple threat star, talented as anyone else on television. The Mindy Project features Kaling in a starring role dealing with the trials of life as a doctor in New York City. Kaling has stated that her lead character was based off her own mother.
