Statistics on Single Mothers

Motherhood as you probably are already aware of is full of all kinds of ups and downs. These ups and downs are actually multiplied when you are a single mom. With a dual family at least there is time for a mother to take a shower or even escape even if it is just for a few moments. As a single mom you do not have this option.

Dealing With Stress As A Single Mom

When you are a single mom you find yourself having to do both roles of keeping the house going, money coming in, and the yardwork done. There is no help or support. However, do not fret because you are not alone out there. There are millions of single moms each year. There are a few things that you can do to help reduce the everyday stress of being a single parent.

One of the most important things for you to remember is that married or not there is no such thing as a perfect single mother. Every mother makes mistakes and its a part of the game called life. Do not ever let yourself feel guilty for being single. Single parents need to be honored because they have the ability to embrace life full steam ahead. Do not worry about the lavish things that you are not able to provide for your child. Instead focus on the important things such as good health, food on the table, and a roof over your children's head. These are the things that matter the most.

One of biggest stresses of being a single mom is money. You are lacking an income that most marrried women have the luxury of enjoying. In knowing this to avoid the stress of money create a budget and, no matter how hard it may be stick to it. Some great ways to gain more income is to talk to your boss about any training options that will help you advance or even going back to school.

Also being a single parent you need to be sure that you have a strong support system consisting of friends and family. It is important to surround yourself with people that can help you with babysitting for errands and other emergencies. They may even offer to run your kids to various school activities to help relieve some of the stress off you.

If it is at all possible try to also develop a healthy single parent co-relationship with the father of the children as well. Your children have the right to know both of their parents without arguments. Come to an agreement where you will be civil during daddy visits which will also help to relieve stress off you.

Finally you need to be sure that you are following a daily routine. I am sure that you are already aware of how hard it is to actually be able to follow a routine but it can be done. Sticking yourself to a schedule will help to reduce the stress of worrying what needs to be done moment to moment.

Being a single parent can be a stressful but, if you take the time to follow these steps you will find that you are not as stressed that you may have been originally.
