Best Pals Sweepstakes

best-pals-sweepstakesAfter reading this post, enter in our social media sweepstakes for your chance to win a Best Pals doll of your choice, 1 tea set, and 1 “All Aboard for Blanket Bay” lullaby CD! Contest runs Monday, January 23 through Monday, January 30. Check out our Facebook or Twitter for more details.

Ever think back to the days when dolls were handmade with love out of your mother’s old curtains or dress? Call it frugal or old-fashion, rag dolls from “back in the day” always had a touch of home and carried lots of love. Made of soft, worn, and familiar fabrics, old-fashioned rag dolls give children a little piece of our childhood, handed down from generation to generation.

Best Pals, created by singers Kathy and Janet Lennon, sent us a couple of their dolls in the mail. Curious of this nostalgic toy, our very own Jodi Luber of Momtalk and Julia reviewed Best Pals old-fashioned rag dolls, and provided us with great feedback. If you haven’t had the chance to check out these great old-fashioned rag dolls, be sure you do. Best Pals also has CDs sung by Kathy and Janet Lennon, mini dolls and mini pets, adorable tea sets, accessories, clothes, and more.

Jodi Luber’s Best Pals Review

Dear Friends,

As you’ve no doubt heard me wax on for the past few months, one of the most incredible (and new) blessings in my  life is a daughter, Julia, age 6, who has unknowingly fulfilled so many of my old yearnings that I always assumed came with having a little girl over which to fuss and dote. From sparkly nail polish, to private girl time (where we discuss everything from her favorite singers to the tooth fairy), to the fun of having another female in the house, having a daughter has proven to be everything I ever dreamed of—and more.

This past week, Julia and I played with one of her newest best friends, a Best Pals doll, who is so full of old-world charm (her little flowered dress is made of the prettiest, softest fabric, and every single detail, stitch, and little touch is so lovely) that it occurred to me that this little doll would have been just as welcome on my big-girl bed (way back in the day) as she is on Julia’s.

During our special playtime, Best Pal Emily (so named by Ms. Julia), Julia, and yours truly plopped ourselves on Julia’s bed, among the teddy bears, heart-shaped pillows, and fluffy blankets, and had ourselves an old-fashioned tea party. What a hoot! Best Pals also makes a gorgeous tea set that comes in its own carrying case (looks like an old-world lunch box), complete with tea pot, cups and saucers, and larger plates (we imagined these were for cookies, of course). We set up our tea table, Julia poured tea for Emily and me, and we just had the most wonderful and simplest of fun times.
Emily makes her home on the mess that is often Julia’s bed, but she looks like she’s having a swell time. Us too.

Jodi & Julia
