The famous boy band had no idea Sony was releasing a surprise album.
Our favorite boy band from the '90s is back. Sort of. N'Sync’s label, Sony Legacy Records, released "The Essential *NSYNC", a double album featuring N'Sync's best hits as well as some rarer songs on Tuesday. And the band had no idea! Despite the lack of promotion, fans found out about the album and have already begun purchasing.
Lance Bass posted a photo of the album on Instagram, writing, "I love when the record label doesn't even tell you they are releasing a new 'NSYNC album tomorrow!"
Chris Kirkpatrick said on Twitter, "It's great to release some of the songs that had never made a record before!"
Fellow singers Joey Fatone and JC Chasez thanked their fans on Twitter for their support, but Justin Timberlake has yet to make any sort of statement.
N'Sync hasn't released an album together since "Celebrity" in 2001.
The CD features our favorite dance ensuing hits with some other songs that fans didn’t even know existed. Some of the songs include "Believe in Yourself," which they performed on Sesame Street in 2000, and a cover of "The Lion Sleeps Tonight."
Bass wrote on Instagram, "Guess the label didn't expect all our amazing fans to still be there for us! I hate my favorite When You Wish upon A Star got left off. This cd set really showcases the vocals which I really like.
Sadly, the boys aren’t back together but this nostalgic album certainly is a throwback. The album is already out of stock on Amazon and currently one of the most downloaded albums on iTunes.
Looks like we don’t have to say “Bye Bye Bye” to NSync after all.
