If you can’t stand waiting in the Starbucks line, then you are not alone. Leave it to the coffee conglomerate to make an app to make you a little happier on your coffee adventure. The Seattle-based coffee chained announced that customers at more than 4,000 locations can now order and pay for their beverages ahead of time using an added feature to the existing mobile app.
That program, known as mobile Mobile Order & Pay, launched last December in Portland and works through Starbucks’ existing iPhone app.
After the test run in Portland, it expanded to 650 stores in the Pacific Northwest earlier this year and is now available at locations in 22 states and roughly half of all U.S stores. During testing, the company said it gained insight on inventory and wait-time estimates for mobile order pick-up times.
The new Starbucks app is available in Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Louisiana, Mississippi, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington and Wyoming.
Now instead of walking in and waiting your turn, all you have to do is select your drink, your local store, and pay! After that, just walk to Starbucks and pick up your drink - no line waiting required! The app also includes wait times at various locations.
As of right now the app is only available for iPhones but the chain plans to unveil a version for Android later this year.
