survival-boot-campSo many times we find ourselves questioning our path or feeling kicked in the gut. We may feel afraid or petrified of the outcome, for which many times we have no control over.

It’s times like this that you can either concede to the demons or pull up your bootstraps and push forward. Whether it’s a falling short to lose fifty pounds or getting fired from your job, you have to be the one to know your direction and stick to it.

Here are some tips for pushing through the hard times and reaching your goals.

Kicked Down - Pick it Up

1. You Can Make It

A failed path gives you a new direction. When the current diet plan fails to bring the results you thought you worked so hard for, you need to know there are millions of way to lose weight. If one diet doesn’t work, then try another. Dorothy’s yellow brick road twisted and turned, but she still made it to Oz. You can too!

2. Forgive

Forgive the ones you love, especially yourself. It’s easy to have a pity party and feel sorry for yourself that you didn’t win the race or finish the marathon, but understanding how to forgive and regroup is important.  You can still reach your goals even with setbacks.

3. Be Present

Be present in the moment. There are times when you’ve missed making that phone call, or setting priorities correctly. You may have made a poor decision and put your workout at the end of the day and it isn’t going to happen anymore. Worrying about past problems doesn’t move you into the future. Stay focused on where you are at and where you are going to meet your goals.

4. Focus on the Positives

If you focus on your losses you’ll never see your gains. It’s important to look for the silver lining in every challenge. The "make lemonade out of lemons" couldn’t hold a truer place when things look bleak. Don’t let your weight be your only indicator of getting healthy. Measure your waistline, see how your body sleeps better or has more energy to judge your success.

5. Be Patient

Change is a progression. Don’t step on the scale each day looking for a change. When you’re trying to lose weight, keep in mind that your body is looking to stay the same and fights against the changes. Stay consistent and check in weekly in meeting your goals. That means the scale stays under the bed until Friday.
