A new study says you should drink a cup of coffee and then take a nap to feel refreshed!
A new study has just revealed that "coffee naps" are the best way to achieve maximum alertness in the middle of the day. Though these two are polar opposites - drinking coffee and napping - the new study suggests that if you drink a cup of java and take a 20-minute nap, you’ll wake completely refreshed! Not buying it still?
Numerous studies have been done to show that when you combine coffee and a nap, it gives you way more energy than coffee or a nap alone. Experts say this may be the new ultimate way to do an afternoon pick-me-up.
It takes 20 minutes for the caffeine from your coffee to work its way through your brain. In our brains, there is a molecule called adenosine, which makes us feel drowsy but as we nap, our brain washes this molecule away and we wake refreshed! So sleep interacts with coffee in such a way that if we take a nap that ends just as the caffeine kicks in, we will be ready to go!
Studies also show that people who took coffee naps performed better on memory tests than those who only had a short snooze with no coffee. But, make sure it just a 20 minute nap. If you sleep too long you'll reach a deeper level of sleep and it'll be tougher Try a coffee nap if you’re a student in between classes or on your break from work!
