What is Teeth Grinding?

Grinding your teeth involves moving your teeth back and fourth against one another, often while you are sleeping. This can cause the teeth to wear down and even crack as well as give you headaches and jaw pain during the day. Typically, men tend to grind their teeth more than women, but if you are a teeth grinder - see your dentist right away. Your dentist will probably recommend or prescribe a specific type of mouth guard to wear during the night to keep your teeth from grinding.

What is Teeth Clenching?

Clenching your teeth is a little bit different than grinding. Clenching involves pressing your top and bottom jaw together and clenching the muscles. This happens more typically in women and can cause massive headaches, jaw pain, and even joint problems. Besides getting a mouth guard from your dentist, Botox is also another option to reduce the headaches you might get from clenching your teeth. It can relax the muscles and take the tension and pain out of your jaw, reducing headaches.
