Read these books and feel all the feels.
In my mental bookshelf (now that eBooks have taken over the world) there are books that have made me laugh, there are books that have made me swoon, and then there are those that make me feel this deep heart wrenching emotion and sob. What better way than to let out some emotion than cry over someone else's words. I’ve picked a number of books that have made my heart clench, so reach for the Kleenex and grab one of these titles. They are worth the cry.
The Fault In Our Stars by John Green
“Maybe 'okay' will be our 'always”
What else could be sadder than a love story? This humorous, heartbreaking and moving tale about two teens that meet at a support group for kids with cancer hits you in all the right places.
Marley and Me by John Grogan
"Marley," I said. "You are a great dog."
A honest and loving story about a family dog, who they call the “world’s worst dog.” If you have or have ever had a pet, you will find yourself weeping by the end (I did).
Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck
"I got you to look after me, and you got me to look after you, and that's why."
At the very essence of it, this is about friendship between two men. I had to read this for a class assignment as a teenager and I remember feeling more emotions than I wanted to feel at that age.
Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes
"I don't know what's worse: to know what you are and be happy, or to become what you've always wanted to be, and feel alone."
This is a book written as a series of journal entries from a mentally disabled man who goes through a scientific procedure in the hopes that he can improve his intelligence level. Reading through these journal entries only made it more personal, making me emotionally attached.
The Time Traveler’s Wife by Audrey Niffenegger
"It's dark now and I am very tired. I love you, always. Time is nothing."
A love story between, yes, you guessed it, a time traveler and his lover throughout the years. The pain and struggle the two experience throughout their relationship is heart-wrenching, yet inspiring when it comes to holding on to one you love no matter what.
