Meryl Streep - the name itself evokes a combination of happiness, admiration and confidence. Now in her 60s, the famous actress dished out several words of wisdom about accepting yourself and owning it, constantly reminding us why we love her.

Even the president has a soft spot for her! When presenting Streep with the Medal of Freedom, President Obama said, “I love Meryl Streep. Her husband knows I love her. Michelle knows I love her. There's nothing they can do about it.”

We honor this woman by honoring her words:

On playing strong women

“People will say to me, ‘You’ve played so many strong women’ and I’ll say, ‘Have you ever said to a man, ‘You’ve played so many strong men?’ No! Because the expectation is [men] are varied. Why can’t we have that expectation about women?'"

Best piece of career advice

"The biggest lesson I learned in my career was to ask other people what they make because the men usually make more than you do. And it’s good to know. You’re not allowed to ask… but it’s good to ask."
