Justin Timberlake took to the stage to accept the iHeartRadio Innovator Award Sunday with a moving and inspirational speech.
"My mother taught me that being different was a good thing," Timberlake said. Growing up, the Suit & Tie singer never imagined he would one day be honored for being an innovator. Timberlake's schoolmates called him weird and different and he was picked on in school. Timberlake said, "If you are a young person and you're at home and you're being called weird or different, I'm here to tell you your critics do not count. Their words will fade. You won't."
Timberlake went on to say that people need to "stay hungry, stay foolish," important words the successful singer chooses to live by.
But before leaving the stage, Timberlake teared up while thanking his wife, Jessica Biel. The couple is expecting heir first child in a few weeks.
"You can't have innovation without creation so, finally, I want to thank my best friend, my favorite collaborator, Jessica at home, who is watching. Honey, I can't wait to see our greatest creation yet. Don't worry, daddy's headed home right now to innovate by learning how to change a poopy diaper and get my swaddle on," Timberlake said in the last part of his sweet acceptance speech.
