its-fashionTen Pieces = Five Great Looks

Contrary to what is often conveyed in the media, a packed closet is not a must. It is possible to be fashionable without owning dozens of ensembles. After all, who really has that in their budget?  In fact, great style really only takes ten separate pieces or so, and before you know it, it’s fashion

Five Looks Under $100

Most people are looking to stretch their dollars any way they can. Spending on clothes is not the priority that it used to be. However, being presentable is still important, and people still want to be stylish. It’s fashion forwad and frugal to make use of fashion separates to get the very most out of what is hanging in the closet. Choosing well-made, classic pieces allows a person to create a number of different looks out of a dizeb or less separate articles of clothing.

1. A Good Pair of Jeans

A solid, quality pair of jeans goes so much farther than many people give them credit for. Put with a favorite tee, they can create a look suitable for a lazy Saturday. Put with a blouse, the jeans are suddenly fine for a casual evening out.

2. A Great Blouse

That same blouse can be put with a pair of khaki pants, or a basic straight skirt for an occasion that is less laid back.

3. Solid Color Tees

A solid color shirt for layering with other items is also a must have in many regions, especially as temperatures drop towards winter. Doing this can easily dress up something that is more casual, or take a more formal, professional look and dress it down a bit.

4. Great Neutral Colors

Find mix and match neutrals that can easily go from a dinner out with close friends, to the office, to a dinner party.

5. A Good Pair of Shoes

When considering different looks, don't forget about the shoes! Footware is part of mix and match neutrals as much as tops and bottoms are. Though having a closet full of shoes and shopping for shoes are often joked about as being hobbies for some women, most women do not have the income to support this sort of pastime. Nonetheless, a change in shoes can completely change the look and feel of an ensemble. For this reason, it is important to have a few choices in footwear. These choices do not need to cost a lot, though. Making use of online discount sites, coupon codes, and buy one get one deals can all go a long way to making the clothing budget go that much farther.

Fashion separates really put far more potential in a wardrobe than meets the eye. It’s fashion to look good, but also to stay within a budget and show a sense of being frugal. Look not only in big department store sale ads, but also check with discount stores, and even consignment stores. It’s easy to obtain ten mix and match neutrals with a tight budget that look good and are versatile. With a little planning and creativity, making the most of less can be a lot of fun, so enjoy it.

I grew up in Northern Indiana, near the University of Notre Dame.  I have a B.A. in Liberal Arts from Holy Cross College.  Aside from writing I am also a family health educator at Memorial Hospital of South Bend.  I work also as a Birth Doula and Lactation Specialist.  I love providing education and support for growing families.  I find it incredibly rewarding.

I have a husband and two children of my own.  They are three and five years old.  My three year old has Autism.  In addition to running around after them, I have a St. Bernard that I enjoy cuddling with.  I have also in the past worked as a nanny to three children, two of which were special needs.  Long before that, in what almost seems like another lifetime altogether, I worked as a restaurant general manager.
