There's nothing worse than arriving in your hotel room after a long day of travel, opening your bag, and finding a lotion explosion all over your things. After the shock that the zip-lock bag you stashed the lotion in failed you, you'll wish you had tried a more foolproof system.

Here are a few ways to pack your shampoos and lotions in a way that won't come back to haunt you.

Switch the Container: Those lotion containers might look nice, but they're not exactly travel safe. Try a container with a twist-on cap that wont squish and pop open under the pressure of all your luggage.

Any resealable container with a solid body will work great for this trick. You could even find a large solid container and stash multiple bottles of lotion inside where they wont get smashed or come in contact with the other contents of your bag.

Double Seal: The one bag system might have failed you, but doubling down on the method might be the way to go. It's not the most glamorous fix, but the extra security will help ensure undamaged luggage.

Rubber Band Lotion Stopper: If you're dealing with a push-down lotion bottle, wrapping a rubber band around the nozzle's neck will prevent it from squirting lotion when getting tossed around in your bag.
