This weekend in entertainment news... Hollywood revs up awards season, Macaulay Culkin rebutted his own death hoax, Candy Spelling called out her daughter Tori and more...
Hollywood Governor’s Awards
Saturday night, stars from Robert Downey Jr. to Jennifer Aniston attended the 2014 Governor’s Awards in Los Angeles. Aniston walked the red carpet with her longtime fiancé Justin Theroux, the two clad in matching black ensembles. Also engaged (to Sophie Hunter), Benedict Cumberbatch walked the carpet with Keira Knightley - his co-star in The Imitation Game.
Other highlights of the red carpet were Reese Witherspoon who took a turn to her Legally Blonde days in a hot knee-length dress, Jessica Chastain in a champagne-colored ruffle dress, and Eddie Redmayne who stars in the new Stephen Hawking biopic, The Theory of Everything.
MTV European Music Awards
The MTV EMA’s started off with a bang when David Hasselhoff arrived on the red carpet wearing a traditional Scottish kilt with his young girlfriend of three years, Hayley Roberts, on his arm in matching hems. Other attendees included Ariana Grande in a floor-length navy dress (and no half-up hairdo), Jena Malone, and Charli XCX.
Nicki Minaj hosted the Sunday night event at the SSE Hydro in Glasgow, Scotland and had several costume changes - each unique in their own right.
Minaj herself performed a string of songs throughout the night along with performances from Ariana Grande, Charli XCX, Ed Sheeran, Alicia Keys and U2.
The biggest winners of the night were UK boy band One Direction, who left with three awards including the honor for Biggest Fans. They accepted the wins via satellite as they were not in attendance. Ozzy Osbourne took home the award for Global Icon.
Candy Spelling Calls Out Daughter Tori
True Tori season 2 is going into its third week of episodes and Dean McDermott is ready to call it quits... with the show. In a recent interview with Access Hollywood, McDermott confessed that the show is "too much," especially after the recent glances into his life of alcohol, sex addiction and thoughts of suicide.
Last week on the Lifetime series, Tori spoke to her friend about her lack of finances to support her large family and supporting the college funds of her four children. When Dean was asked about the financial situation, McDermott confirmed, "In my recovery, all I can be is honest and no. No. There’s no financial help," referring to mother-in-law Candy Spelling offering fiscal support. Aaron Spelling, the late television producer, left a massive estate and enormous funds for his family.
Contradicting Dean is Candy’s rep who said, "Candy has provided financial help in the past and has offered repeatedly to pay for the children’s private schooling and Tori has never told her where to send the money."
Macaulay Culkin is Alive
In another Hollywood death hoax, rumors were circling that Home Alone star Macaulay Culkin had died on Saturday, Nov. 8. Good to know that all is well with Culkin, 34!
The child-actor posted pictures just after the hoax had surfaced across the Internet - he was touring with his NYC band, The Pizza Underground. Culkin was smiling and posing with a soda saying, "We’re on tour you silly people / @anchovywarhol’s."

Duggar’s Passionate Kiss(es)
Jessa Duggar and husband Ben Seewald wed last weekend in Jessa’s hometown of Arkansas at the same church her older brother, older sister, and parents were married. After sharing their first official kiss in an intimate moment after the wedding, the newlyweds took to Instagram to show that practice makes perfect.
Soon after, Jessa received a similar picture from her TLC-star mom, Michelle Duggar. The mom of 19 children sent the intimate photo to her newly married daughter in an attempt to imitate the same passionate kiss. Jessa showed the picture to her Instagram followers on Sunday with the caption, "My parents texted me this picture! This year marks 30 years of marriage, and they’re still in that 'honeymoon' stage! It’s great to see older married couples still so madly in love! I love you Mom & Dad! @duggarfam"
Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard just had their wedding special premiere on TLC proceeding the engagement episode of Jessa Duggar and Ben Seewald the following week. While Jill and Derick are anticipating their first child to arrive in the spring, it seems as though the Seewald baby will be arriving soon after.
