Rosie O’Donnell is going through a difficult time personally and professionally. On Friday, O’Donnell’s rep confirmed her separation from wife Michelle Rounds while also revealing that The View co-host will be leaving the show after only five months since returning after a seven-year hiatus. The news comes as a surprise to viewers who suspected Rosie Perez wouldn’t be returning to the show.
"Rosie has teens and an infant at home that need her attention. This has been a very stressful situation. She is putting her personal health and family first. ABC has been wonderfully understanding and supportive of her personal decision to leave The View. Next week will be her last," O’Donnell’s rep confirmed.
Departing the show for the second time stems from her marriage falling apart.
"I can confirm that Rosie and her wife Michelle split in November," O’Donnell’s rep continued. The ex-couple share daughter Dakota, whom they adopted as a newborn in 2014. O’Donnell has four older children from her previous marriage to Kelli Carpenter.
ABC said, "Rosie is an immensely talented star who comes in each and every morning brimming with ideas, excitement and passion for the show. When she told us that she wanted to exit The View, we respected and understood her desire to put her well-being and her family first. We’re delighted she’s still part of the ABC family with upcoming guest appearances on The Fosters. And we know she’ll return to The View often with her unique point of view and updates on her work and her family."
Bobbi Kristina’s Fight for Her Life
Bobbi Kristina Brown remains on life support after being found in the bathtub unconscious more than a week ago. New details have emerged from the day of the incident, including evidence that she was submerged face-down in the bathtub for at least 15 minutes before being discovered.
Her father, Bobby Brown, has been in Atlanta since the events where he is surrounded by family members including his wife, children, and former mother-in-law Cissy Houston. Missing however, is Bobbi Kristina’s boyfriend Nick Gordon. According to Gordon and Bobbi Kristina, the two referred to each other as "husband" and "wife." However, Bobby Brown confirms the two were never legally married.
Other details have emerged about events leading up to last Saturday’s tragedy. On January 28, an Atlanta judge released a warrant for Bobbi Kristina’s arrest due to her failure to appear in court for traffic violations.
Other eerie details include unexplained injuries on Bobbi’s body, which have led to an investigation. The investigation will include questioning Gordon as well as Bobbi’s friend Max Lomas who was in the house when she was discovered.
Bruce Jenner Involved in Deadly Crash
Bruce Jenner walked away uninjured after a horrific car accident in Malibu on Saturday. Around noon, Jenner was allegedly being chased by paparazzi when he rear-ended a car in front of him on the Pacific Coast Highway. The car Jenner hit then swerved into oncoming traffic and was fatally struck by another car. One person in the three-car collision has been confirmed dead.
TMZ was the first to report the accident where pictures confirmed that Jenner was driving an Escalade and the car that killed the rear-ended passenger was a large Hummer truck. One victim was seen walking around the scene holding a baby. Jenner was seen talking and cooperating with police as completely wrecked cars were being investigated.
Brian Williams Takes Leave of Absence
In light of the scandal surrounding war reports from Iraq in 2003, NBC Nightly News’ Brian William has confirmed he will temporarily step down from his anchor position.
"In the midst of a career spent covering and consuming news, it has become painfully apparent to me that I am presently too much a part of the news, due to my actions."
Williams continued, "As Managing Editor of NBC Nightly News, I have decided to take myself off of my daily broadcast for the next several days, and Lester Holt has kindly agreed to sit in for me to allow us to adequately deal with this issue. Upon my return, I will continue my career-long effort to be worthy of the trust of those who place their trust in us."
The anchor, who just celebrated his 10-year anniversary of the show, is under scrutiny after questionable reports from Iraq in 2003 and Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
"I made a mistake in recalling the events of 12 years ago. I want to apologize. I said I was traveling in an aircraft that was hit by RPG fire. I was instead in a following aircraft," Williams said on Wednesday’s newscast.
He was also met with skepticism after claiming to have seen a body "float by face down" from his "hotel room window in the French Quarter" while covering Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans ten years ago, when that area had reportedly been dry and not affected by floodwaters.
