It's only a few days into the New Year and the celebrity news is steadily flowing in 2015. Check out the top headlines from this weekend in entertainment.
Stuart Scott Dies
Renowned ESPN sportscaster, Stuart Scott, passed away in Connecticut on Sunday morning. He was battling a long and courageous fight with cancer and passed at 49. The Chicago native left behind two daughters, Taelor, 19, and Sydni, 15, with his ex-wife Kim Scott.
This past July, the television personality was honored with the Jimmy V Award for Perseverance at the 2014 ESPYs. He gave inspiring words regarding his cancer treatment and moving forward in a positive way.
:Every day I am reminded that our life’s journey is really about the people who touch us…When you die, that does not mean that you lose to cancer. You beat cancer by how you live, why you live and in the manner in which you live." He continued, "So live. Live. Fight like hell and when you get too tired to fight, then lay down and rest and let somebody else fight for you."
Alec Baldwin’s Growing Family
The Baldwin family had two very exciting announcements over the holiday weekend. First of all, Baldwin’s wife Hilaria announced via Instagram on New Year’s Day that they are expecting their second child together. They are already parents to Carmen Gabriella, 1.
In an adorable picture of baby Carmen sitting on Alec’s lap while touching her mother’s belly, the yoga-loving Baldwin announced, "2015 is going to be very exciting as we are thrilled to announce we are expecting another little addition to our family!"
Just one day later, Hilaria (we think) announced that their baby-to-be is a boy. The mom posted a photo of the family’s pairs of shoes and the littlest ones are a pair of navy blue loafers. The photo was accompanied with blue heart emojis and the caption, "So we have an announcement to make…can you guess??"
The 30 Rock actor has one daughter, Ireland, from his previous marriage to Kim Bassinger.
Jen Aniston Talks Brad Pitt
Actress Jennifer Aniston has really… no, really… moved on from ex-husband Brad Pitt.
In a recent interview with CBS, Aniston admitted that while the two have wished each other well, they aren’t on "constant" speaking terms. When asked if constantly being asked about Angelina Jolie’s now-husband is a painful topic, Aniston replied, "I don’t find it painful, though. I think it’s a narrative that follows you because it’s an interesting headline. It’s more of a media-driven topic."
The 45-year-old has been engaged to Justin Theroux since 2012 and while split rumors have been circling the couple, Aniston assured, "We know what our truth is. That’s all just static."
Aniston stars in the new drama, Cake, hitting theaters Jan. 25. Her dynamic performance of a complicated addict is suspected to win her a Golden Globe this coming Sunday.
Sarah Palin vs. PETA
2015 is off to a "ruff" start for politician Sarah Palin. The mom of five posted a very controversial photo on her Facebook page of young son, Trig, playfully stepping on their dog to reach the kitchen counter.
The post read, "Happy New Year! May 2015 see every stumbling block turned into a stepping-stone on the path forward. Trig just reminded me. He, determined to help wash dishes with an oblivious mama not acknowledging his signs for 'up!', found me and a lazy dog blocking his way. He made his stepping stone."
Palin’s son is autistic but PETA says it’s no excuse for "animal cruelty." Yes, Sarah Palin was accused of animal cruelty, which did not sit well with the former VP candidate. In a long response to PETA on her Facebook page, Palin wrote, "Dear PETA, Chill. At least Trig didn’t eat the dog."
After a few paragraphs of ranting about how Obama supposedly "enjoys eating dead dog meat," the Alaska-native signed off saying "Our pets, including Trig’s best buddy Jill Hadassah, are loved, spoiled and cared for more than some people care for their fellow man whose politics may not mesh with nonsensical liberally failed ways or don’t fit your flighty standards. Jill is a precious part of our world. So is Trig."
Teresa Giudice Begins Prison Sentence
Real Housewives of New Jersey star, Teresa Giudice, arrived at Federal Correctional Institution in Danbury, Conn just before 3 a.m., Monday morning. Giudice left her Montville mansion shortly after midnight and was driven by her lawyer, James J. Leonard Jr. She surrendered seven hours prior to her scheduled intake.
In a statement to NJ Advance Media, the 42-year-old’s lawyer revealed, "Teresa is a very strong woman. She won’t have any problems in there." He added, "When we arrived at Danbury, everyone we encountered was extremely courteous and respectful."
Giudice resides at the same prison where Lauryn Hill spent three months for tax evasion and where The Orange is the New Black Netflix series is based off of.
Upon Giudice returning home after 15 months behind bars, her Italian-native husband Joe, 42, will serve 41 months in prison following the possibility of deportation.
In 2013, the reality stars were charged with conspiracy to commit mail fraud and wire fraud, bank fraud, making false statements on loan applications and bankruptcy fraud. They were found guilty on 41 counts and were sentenced this past October.
Teresa has stated numerous times that her primary focus remains to be her four daughters: Gia, 13, Gabriella, 10, Milania, 8, and Audriana, 5.
