Wink, Wink, Wink... Next!!

wink_wink_nextIt has been a while since I wrote a little blog about love and how I am trying to find it. lol This has me wondering maybe I should let love find me?

I have so many wonderful friends in my life, all of whom have great advice about dating and life. Since I've been doing the online dating thing, I have to ask you...how many bad dates can one have? I'm serious, 4,5 maybe 10? It all gets so hard to do. You get a wink, so you wink back and then nothing. Dude, why did you wink? Then there are the one sentence e-mails. Personally they are my favorite, all they say is: "You are beautiful", "I love your smile". How is this even remotely attractive? It feels like he is saying: "I'm not busy tonight, want to come over? " The best part is where I hit delete. Then of course there is the poor guy who thinks that if he just keeps on sending you the same e-mail eventually even after you reply not interested, you will still write him back.

Suddenly you move into the next phase which is meeting up. This is really the worst. Have you ever shown up for a date and completely missed who your date is because his picture is from 1995? In the end you do find that one guy who is your type. As my good friend described my type, "preppy with an edge". So Mr. Preppy with an edge this is my plea to you...Can you please show up on my doorstep?

Since the main focus of my blog is bad dates, I thought I would tell you about my recent bad date. Although I have had a very good one recently and it is still going. It all started when I gave my number to a guy while out with a group of friends. He seemed nice, decent and I had already had a couple of beers. I decided to go on a date with Mr. Entrepeneur. I'm calling him this because he has his own business at a young age and seem to be doing extremely well for himself. We met at this little restaurant by the water. There is outdoor seating and it is the perfect low key date place to meet. After running late, he shows up and asks me: do you mind if we take my dog for a walk? Ladies I do not remeber ever hearing him say the date is taking my dog for a walk...Thank goodness I am not wearing heels was my first thought.

We get his dog, a little white maltese. You know what they say about guys and little dogs, Girlfriend Alert!! Walking on the trail talking, it is started off well. Eventually we get to a little clearing, sit down and watch little Shatki (some yoga god - was that another sign?) run around. Oh boy the next thing I know he comes running out of the water, yes, out of the water! Proceeds to jump on me and covers me in muddy footprints. Did I miss the note on date etiquette? Shouldn't mud wrestling be something never to do on a first date or ever? Trying to show that things happen and I am not upset I decide to make a joke and say: Can I send you my dry cleaning bill? What does Mr. Entrpeneur say: "You dry clean your jeans?" Ladies, the award for no humor whatsoever goes to him. Gonathan*, in order for a girl to like you she will judge you on your sense of humor. Regardless to say the rest of the night went down bumpy. There was no great good night kiss, because who wants to kiss a guy who prefers kissing his dog? I just want to say thank you that I did not get that follow up call.

I'm thinking you are all wondering what happened to my ex. Well, apparantly nothing because he is yet to contact me. I believe my hockey days are over, so in my dating profile there is a fine print that reads: Hockey players, Entrepeneurs and Engineers need not apply.

Okay girls, talk to you soon!

*Name change because I am scared of getting sued. ha ha ha
