Donning his trademark hoodie, Mark Zuckerberg stood before a large crowd in California and opened Facebook stock trading on Nasdaq.  Here, we go, folks.  The Facebook IPO is likely to be one of the largest, and financial analysts are estimating the social media giant to be valued higher than previous estimates, topping out at $100 billion.  Generally IPO's are not positioned for individual investors, yet we'd all like to have a share or two (or 100)!  So how do we get a piece of stock in Facebook?  It's looking like for us regular people, buying Facebook stock might be a bit more complicated.  Here's what you need to know about the Facebook IPO and investing in Facebook.

Mark Zuckerberg finally took the plunge this week when he came out with Facebook's new Initial Public Offering (IPO) prices.  The plan will make the Facebook IPO offer among the largest US deals in history.  With an IPO, the business holder enlists the help of an underwriter, who helps them determine the prices for potential shareholders.  The huge social networking force plans to sell shares in the range of $25-$35 each, and will estimatedly raise $10.6 billion for Facebook and shareholders that decide to sell.  After all is said and done, this privately held company's decision to go public will up Facebook's value to $86.2 billion dollars, setting a record for a US company going public with stock shares.
