Yoga is a great way to decrease stress, improve flexibility and increase muscle strength. But for most people, toning your core is done with medicine balls, cable pulleys, and stability balls-least of all in yoga class. But these two yoga moves can help improve your golf or tennis game and strengthen your core as well.
Start in a seated position with knees bent. Lift tall through your chest and extend the spine as you inhale. Draw your belly in as you exhale and extend your legs. Balance and reach arms overhead for the most challenging position. Hold for 10-60 seconds and repeat 3-5 times to help target those abdominals.
Kneel on a padded floor or mat and draw the hips slightly under. Breathe in as you reach arms to the side and exhale as you twist your upper body. Hold the twist for 10-60 seconds and repeat on the other side. Keep shoulders relaxed and arms reaching. This tones the core and shoulders. Repeat 3-5 times.
